The Senate of the Federal University Wukari (FUW) in Taraba State has approved a complete ban on all sign-out and graduation celebration activities within the university campus and nearby areas.

The decision was taken during the institution’s 76th regular Senate meeting after a committee reviewed the nature and impact of students’ sign-out celebrations.According to the Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Prof.

Benjamin Ate Kefas, the new directive is aimed at improving security, protecting lives and property, and ensuring that academic activities continue without disruption.

Under the new rules, students are no longer allowed to organise activities such as signing T-shirts or other materials, holding processions, dancing, celebrating inside or outside classrooms, or moving around in groups and convoys within or outside the campus.

The university also banned gatherings and parties around the school gates and along the Katsina-Ala–Jalingo Highway because such activities can cause traffic congestion, public disorder and other security risks.Spraying money and every other form of passing-out celebration covered by the directive have also been prohibited.

FUW management has directed security personnel to strictly enforce the ban and report any student or group that violates the rules for disciplinary action in line with the university’s regulations.

The Senate also appealed to students, parents, guardians, alumni and members of the public to cooperate with the institution by respecting the directive.

The university said the measure reflects its commitment to maintaining a safe, disciplined and conducive environment where students can focus on learning and academic excellence.
