The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Minister of Works, David Umahi, has restated its commitment to the early completion and high-quality delivery of ongoing road infrastructure projects along the Abuja–Keffi corridor.

During an inspection tour covering parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State, Umahi expressed satisfaction with the pace and standard of work on the 43.65-kilometre Mararaba–Keffi Road reconstruction and expansion project.He specifically commended China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd.for the quality of work done on the Keffi-bound carriageway, as well as JRB Construction Company, which is handling emergency rehabilitation on the Abuja-bound section.The minister expressed confidence that the project could be completed ahead of its scheduled deadline of March 1, 2028.He also highlighted that the project would include additional infrastructure such as solar-powered streetlights to improve safety and road usability.

Umahi warned contractors against lowering construction standards, stressing that the government will no longer tolerate poorly executed or abandoned projects that have historically affected development and public spending.

He reaffirmed that while the Federal Government will honour its financial obligations and ensure prompt payments, contractors must maintain quality and adhere strictly to specifications and timelines.He further instructed contractors to complete all outstanding sections before beginning new asphalt works to avoid delays and inefficiencies.

During the same inspection, the minister also reviewed Section II of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Road, noting that work is expected to be completed by November 12, 2026.

Lawmakers present commended ongoing infrastructure efforts under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing the projects as key to boosting economic growth, regional connectivity, and national development.

Stakeholders, including officials from the Ministry of Works and construction firms, also praised the renewed focus on supervision, accountability, and indigenous capacity in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across Nigeria.
