Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir is on an official visit to Turkiye aimed at further strengthening the long-standing strategic and defence partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit included a series of important meetings with the Turkish political and military leadership.

Field Marshal Munir called on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Defence Minister Yasar Guler, where both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and ways to expand bilateral strategic cooperation in light of the evolving regional environment.

During his visit to the Turkish General Staff Headquarters, the Pakistani military chief was received with a guard of honour and held detailed discussions with Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu on regional security dynamics and professional military cooperation.

In recognition of his contribution towards enhancing defence ties between the two countries, Field Marshal Munir was awarded the Turkish Armed Forces Distinguished Service Medal.He also met General Metin Tokel, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, to discuss continued military collaboration.

As part of the visit, Field Marshal Munir paid tribute to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk by laying a floral wreath at Anıtkabir in Ankara, acknowledging the historical relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye.

Turkish official institutions, including the presidency, embassy and armed forces, also highlighted the meetings and reaffirmed the brotherly relationship and shared strategic vision between the two countries.

The visit follows General Tokel's recent trip to Pakistan, reflecting continued engagement between the armed forces of both nations and their commitment to promoting regional peace, stability and stronger bilateral defence cooperation.
