Firefighters are continuing their efforts to combat a wildfire that broke out on Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh on Sunday evening.The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) first responded to the incident at 6:38pm on Sunday, deploying four fire appliances and maintaining a presence at the scene.The blaze, which has been ongoing since Sunday, is part of a larger wildfire in the Cairngorms that has been burning since Wednesday.Authorities reported that the Cairngorms fire is now largely surrounded, with evacuated residents expected to return home later on Sunday.The incident remains active, with fire crews and partners working together to contain the blaze.Helicopter support has been crucial in accessing difficult-to-reach areas.

Gavin Miles, director of planning and place at the park authority, noted that while progress is encouraging, the situation remains live and teams are still actively engaged.The Ski Road and surrounding areas are likely to remain off-limits for some time due to the high volume of personnel and machinery on-site.Residents and campers affected by the exclusion zone may gain access later on Sunday.
