The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that five candidates have filed certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the special congressional elections in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

The vacancy arose after former lawmaker Francisco 'Kiko' Barzaga was expelled by the House of Representatives in June 2026 for disruptive behavior.The special polls are scheduled for August 29, 2026, following a filing period from July 15-17, 2026.Comelec allocated P191 million for election logistics, including materials and honoraria for teachers serving as electoral board members.Campaign activities will commence on July 30, 2026, with a ban on firearms in public places during the election period.

Incumbent Mayor Jennifer Austria Barzaga, Kiko's mother, is among the candidates, joined by her son Third, former Vice Mayor Raul Rex Del Rosario, Marvin Opamin Dupal-ag, Leysander Aguilar, and Jacinto Bautista Frani Jr.The poll body also emphasized strict adherence to campaign rules to prevent premature outreach.
