Jigawa Police Arrest Suspects, Recover Stolen Motorcycles, Cattle, and Drugs
The Katsina State Government has confirmed that a former Senior Special Assistant on Community Development, Nura Aliyu Garwa, is currently under investigation over his alleged involvement in a kidnapping syndicate operating in the state.
According to officials, Garwa was earlier suspended from office before he later attempted to contest for a seat in the Katsina State House of Assembly representing Batsari Local Government Area.
The case gained public attention after the Katsina State Police Command paraded several suspects linked to the kidnapping of an eight-year-old boy in Sardauna Estate, Katsina metropolis.Garwa was identified among those suspected to be connected with the criminal network allegedly responsible for the abduction.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Salisu Zango, it was revealed that Garwa had previously been suspended by the state government due to allegations of diversion of empowerment materials meant for communities under the Community Development Programme in Batsari LGA.The government stated that his suspension occurred before his political ambition to contest for legislative office.
The statement further explained that the state government views the development as unfortunate, especially given the profile of the individual involved.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda commended the efforts of the police and other security agencies for their work in tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.He also urged residents to support security operations by providing useful information and reporting suspicious movements.
Authorities noted that the ongoing investigation is part of broader efforts to dismantle kidnapping syndicates in Katsina, following recent arrests and police parades of suspects linked to multiple abductions in the metropolis.
