NDLEA seizes 498kg of cannabis hidden in Edo shrine and arrests two suspects in Edo State
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded multiple major interceptions across Kaduna and several other states, including the seizure of 380 rounds of military-grade ammunition and large quantities of illicit drugs.
According to the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, operatives intercepted a 30-year-old suspect, Sunusi Musa, along the Abuja-Kaduna highway at Jere while allegedly transporting 380 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition to Katsina State.The suspect and the recovered ammunition were handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.
In a separate operation in Kaduna, NDLEA officers arrested a couple, Musa Sunday and Mercy Sunday, alongside another suspect, Salomi Ezekiel, after recovering 100 jumbo bags of skunk weighing about 1,246 kilograms from their residence in the Gonin Gora area.
The agency also disclosed another drug interception involving concealed shipments of ketamine and MDMA (ecstasy) hidden inside water purifier machines sent from the Netherlands to a courier company in Lagos.The seized substances included 3 kilograms of ketamine and 199 grams of MDMA.
Further operations in Niger State led to the recovery of 457 kilograms of skunk from a warehouse in Gidan Kukah, Bosso Local Government Area, with a suspect, Godwin Zakka, arrested in connection with the crime.
In Enugu State, operatives intercepted a commercial vehicle on the Onitsha-Enugu expressway, recovering 22,000 tramadol tablets, 100 ampoules of pentazocine, and 200 grams of bromazepam, with one suspect arrested.The NDLEA also noted continued nationwide sensitisation campaigns against drug abuse in schools and communities.Chairman Brig.Gen.Buba Marwa (retd.
