An official testified in court that N1.8 billion belonging to Gassol Local Government in Taraba State was illegally transferred into his company's account during former Governor Darius Ishaku's administration.

Taiwo Jones, an assistant cashier in the state's Local Government Bureau, revealed that he received the funds in tranches on instructions from then-Permanent Secretary Bello Yero.The money was allegedly diverted for personal use, with some cash directly handed to Yero and delivered to the Governor's residence.This forms part of a larger N27 billion case against Ishaku and Yero for criminal breach of trust, conspiracy, and fraudulent conversion.The prosecution alleges the funds were taken from contingency accounts meant for public projects.Jones confirmed receiving N1.8 billion through his company's account, with transactions linked to Christmas grain purchases that were never used.The case highlights systemic corruption in state governance and the misuse of public resources for private gain.
