FRSC deploys 1,889 officers for Eid-el-Kabir road safety patrol in Kano

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano State Sector Command has deployed a total of 1,889 personnel to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow during the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, the special operation is part of a week-long patrol exercise designed to reduce road crashes, traffic congestion, and highway emergencies that usually come with festive periods.The operation began on 25th May and will run till 31st May 2026 across major highways and critical routes within Kano State.

Sector Commander Idris Lawal explained that the exercise involves both Regular and Special Marshals working round the clock in shifts to ensure 24-hour coverage.

The FRSC has also mobilised significant logistics, including 24 patrol vehicles, 4 ambulances, 1 heavy-duty tow truck, 2 operational motorcycles, radar guns, breathalysers, and other traffic management equipment to support enforcement and emergency response.

The operation will focus on major traffic offences such as speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, wrongful overtaking, lane indiscipline, use of mobile phones while driving, and vehicles with mechanical faults or expired tyres.Mobile courts will also be active to ensure quick prosecution of offenders.In addition, emergency rescue teams are on high alert to respond to accidents and other road incidents promptly.The command urged motorists to obey traffic rules, avoid reckless driving, and cooperate with officers on duty.The public was also encouraged to use the FRSC emergency toll-free number 122 to report accidents or road obstructions.The FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safer roads throughout the festive period in Kano State.
