FRSC deploys 1,889 officers for Eid-el-Kabir road safety patrol in Kano
The Rivers State Road Traffic and Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) have held a courtesy and interactive meeting with the leadership of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Employees (AUPCTRE), Rivers State Council.The meeting took place at the office of the Chief VIO and was led by the Chief VIO, Engr.Akobo Monibo, alongside other senior officers of the agency.The AUPCTRE delegation was led by its State Chairman, Comrade Tamunoiminabo Toby, who was accompanied by other executive members of the union.During the engagement, Engr.
Monibo appreciated the union for identifying with the VIO at a critical time and also praised its continuous commitment to workers’ welfare and institutional development.
He emphasised that the responsibilities of the VIO are very important, especially in ensuring a safer and more efficient transport system within Rivers State.
On his part, Comrade Toby explained that the purpose of the visit was to explore the possibility of establishing an AUPCTRE unit or chapter within the VIO, noting that the union already has members across the Ministry of Transport and other related agencies.
He further highlighted that union membership helps to strengthen workers’ welfare, unity, cooperation, and proper representation within government institutions.
The Deputy Chief VIO, Comrade Livings Denoi, also welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive step towards improving staff welfare and strengthening collaboration in the agency.Other officials present included Sup.Stella Jacks and the State Secretary of AUPCTRE, Comrade Okpeyeme Adebajo, among others.The meeting ended on a cordial note, with both parties agreeing to deepen partnership and promote effective service delivery in Rivers State.
