The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) is preparing for the nationwide launch of Ghana's electronic visa (e-visa) system, scheduled for May 25, 2026.
To ensure smooth implementation, GIS recently conducted a two-day training program in Accra, bringing together 40 officers from various immigration control points across the country.
The training focused on equipping officers with the necessary skills to manage the fully digital platform, covering system workflows, document verification, monitoring procedures, and online payment processes.
The e-visa system aims to simplify visa applications for foreign nationals, improve passenger processing, enhance security, and facilitate better data collection for national planning and international cooperation.
Acting Deputy Comptroller-General Faisal Disu emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, data protection, and responsible handling of traveler information.The initiative is expected to promote transparency, accountability, and integrity within GIS operations.By providing a user-friendly and efficient interface for visitors, the system also seeks to boost tourism, business, and investment in Ghana.
GIS management has reiterated its commitment to continuous capacity building, system upgrades, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure proper implementation of the e-visa system.
