Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has assured the federal government's commitment to delivering high-quality and long-lasting road infrastructure to drive economic growth.

During an inspection of the Lagos-Ogun section of the Sokoto-Badagry super highway, Umahi praised the progress on the project, emphasizing that durable roads are crucial for sustained development.He criticized past administrations for poor construction standards and underinvestment, which have contributed to Nigeria's road deficit.

The super highway, a flagship infrastructure project, aims to improve interstate connectivity, reduce logistics costs, and stimulate economic activity.Engineers reported significant progress, with over 34 kilometers of pavement completed and earthworks reaching 81 kilometers.However, some sections faced delays due to drainage works.

Umahi also addressed flooding concerns around the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, attributing the issue to inadequate drainage systems and illegal dumping rather than the project itself.He stressed that the highway meets modern engineering standards and called for adherence to flood management plans.
