A 38-year-old Greek seafarer is recovering in hospital after being rescued from the sea off Cape Town by a Good Samaritan fishing crew.The incident occurred when the man fell overboard from a bulk carrier about seven nautical miles off Mouille Point in Table Bay.The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) and multiple emergency services were involved in the coordinated rescue effort.

The bulk carrier's crew initially kept the man afloat using a life ring and rope, but he was eventually recovered by the fishing vessel McDuck, which diverted to assist after hearing a distress call.The crew of McDuck immediately began rewarming the seafarer, who was suffering from hypothermia and drifting in and out of consciousness.Rescue swimmers from the NSRI joined the vessel en route to shore, and the patient was later transferred to hospital by ambulance.
