Green Day surprised fans at San Diego Comic-Con by performing their 1994 hit 'Basket Case' on top of an ice cream truck, promoting their upcoming coming-of-age film 'Nimrods'.

The band, led by Billie Joe Armstrong, climbed onto a Mister Freezie’s truck bearing the film’s title and delivered the performance, later handing out frozen treats to the crowd.

The film, developed by Green Day and director Lee Kirk, follows three friends traveling from Kansas City to Los Angeles after a mistaken belief about a Green Day tour slot.The event also featured actors Mason Thames and Jenna Fischer, who appear in the film.Green Day’s performance included throwing ice creams, T-shirts, and cassette tapes to the audience, creating a unique and memorable experience.The film, inspired by Green Day’s own tour van experiences, will release in UK cinemas on August 11 and US cinemas on August 14.The accompanying soundtrack includes 22 career-spanning songs and unreleased live recordings from the film’s featured performance.This event highlights Green Day’s continued engagement with fans and their creative ventures beyond music.
