Heavy rainfall hit the Darwat-Jol community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, causing massive destruction.Over 20 houses were destroyed, displacing many families.The torrential downpour, which occurred on Saturday, led to severe flooding that overwhelmed the community's drainage system.Many homes built with mud and thatch collapsed under the water's weight.Residents lost food, clothing, and other belongings.Farmlands were also ruined, worsening the plight of the agrarian community already facing economic challenges.

Mr Damba Dang, a resident, described the rainfall as one of the heaviest in recent times, stressing the inadequate drainage system's role in the disaster.Affected families have appealed to the Plateau State Government and humanitarian organizations for relief materials.The incident highlights the vulnerability of communities to extreme weather events and the need for better infrastructure.
