The Allahabad High Court's Justice Atul Sreedharan has delivered a scathing critique of systemic corruption in Indian institutions, using the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya as a focal point.

The judge emphasized that the theft represents the 'nadir of Indians' integrity' and condemned the normalization of corruption, noting that even India's low ranking in the Transparency International 2025 report does not shame citizens.

He called for amending the Prevention of Corruption Act to introduce the death penalty for convicted offenders, warning that unchecked corruption would widen the gap between the rich and poor and spark civil unrest.

The ruling also addressed 'bulldozer justice,' where authorities demolish properties of accused individuals under municipal violations, highlighting how such actions stem from societal tolerance for corruption.

Justice Sreedharan accused officials of complicity, stating that providing utilities like water and electricity to non-compliant structures enables illegal wealth concentration.

The court urged the state to take extreme legislative measures to combat corruption, framing the issue as a collective failure of integrity across all institutions.
