Elderly couple found fatally stabbed in Queens apartment; police continue investigation with no arrests
A 40-year-old man was airlifted by helicopter from Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood Hills on Sunday morning after suffering a serious medical emergency while hiking.According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), rescue personnel responded to the scene around 9:15 a.m.and conducted an emergency evacuation involving approximately 32 firefighters and rescue staff.The hiker was transported by air to a nearby hospital, where he was reported to be in grave condition.Authorities have not released further details regarding what caused the medical emergency or the identity of the individual.
Video footage shared on social media platforms showed a helicopter hoisting a person from the rugged canyon terrain, highlighting the challenging nature of the rescue operation in the popular hiking destination.Shortly after the incident, emergency services responded to a separate medical emergency in the same Runyon Canyon area involving two minors.
The Los Angeles Police Department reported that officers, along with LAFD personnel, assisted in the response near Fuller Avenue and Hillside Avenue around 9:40 a.m.The minors were taken to a hospital for treatment and later released to their families.
While officials provided limited information about the second incident, both events underscored a busy morning for emergency responders in one of Los Angeles’ most frequented hiking areas.
