Atiku calls for transparency on ₦501 billion power sector bond beneficiaries
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, on Thursday held a strategic meeting with former Inspectors-General of Police at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The engagement was aimed at strengthening the Nigeria Police Force by leveraging the institutional memory, professional experience, and strategic insights of retired police chiefs to address current security challenges and support ongoing reforms within the Force.
According to an official statement released after the meeting, discussions focused on how the wisdom and past experiences of former IGPs can be applied to improve policing strategies, enhance internal operations, and respond more effectively to evolving security threats across the country.
The IGP expressed deep appreciation to his predecessors, noting that their continued involvement remains a valuable asset to the Police Force administration.
The meeting had in attendance several former Inspectors-General of Police including Aliyu Attah (Rtd), Sunday Ehindero (Rtd), Mike Mbama Okiro (Rtd), Ogbonna Onovo (Rtd), Abubakar Ringim, Mohammed Dikko Abubakar (Rtd), Sulaiman Abba (Rtd), Usman Alkali Baba (Rtd), and Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun (Rtd).They engaged in high-level discussions on reforms, institutional strengthening, and collaboration.
The gathering reflects the current leadership’s approach to inclusive reform, ensuring that past leadership experiences are not discarded but integrated into present-day decision-making.It also signals renewed commitment to improving security coordination and professional policing standards in Nigeria.
