India and Indonesia have finalized agreements to supply BrahMos and Astra missiles, enhancing bilateral defense cooperation.The deal, signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jakarta, expands collaboration between the two nations.Indonesia will become the third operator of the BrahMos missile system, following the Philippines and Vietnam.The Astra missile, developed by India's Defence Research and Development Laboratory, is currently used exclusively by the Indian military.

Beyond arms sales, both countries agreed to boost real-time maritime information sharing and strengthen security cooperation in the strategically vital Strait of Malacca, where over 20% of global trade passes.The agreements also cover minerals, telecommunications, and electoral practices, reflecting a broader strategic alignment.Modi praised the 'Comprehensive Strategic Partnership' initiated in 2018, calling it a milestone for Indo-Indonesian relations.Indonesia honored Modi with its highest award, Bintang Adipurna, recognizing his role in advancing regional unity.
