ISPR says security forces killed 27 militants during intelligence-based operations in North Waziristan

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistani security forces killed 27 militants during a series of intelligence-based operations conducted over the last 72 hours in the Miran Shah area of North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The military said the operations targeted multiple militant hideouts and involved intense exchanges of fire between security personnel and the armed group described by the ISPR as India-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij.The military's media wing stated that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the deceased militants.

According to the statement, the individuals killed were allegedly involved in various terrorist activities, including attacks against civilians and targeted killings in the region.

The ISPR further claimed that the operation avenged the killing of Malik Saifullah Dawar, a prominent local figure who had previously been martyred in Miran Shah. The military said those responsible for his killing were among the militants neutralised during the operation and had now been brought to justice. The development comes amid continued security challenges in Pakistan's northwestern regions.Terror-related incidents have increased in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan since 2021.

The report also noted ongoing tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and referred to military actions carried out under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.

Pakistani authorities maintain that militant groups continue to pose a security threat, while efforts to address cross-border militancy and regional instability remain a major concern for the country's security institutions.
