An Israeli airstrike has killed Brigadier-General Abdel-Nasser Al-Maqadma, the head of the police force in the northern Gaza Strip, according to the enclave's interior ministry and medics.Maqadma, also known as the governor of the northern Gaza Strip, was among at least five Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes on Saturday.

The Israeli military claimed he was part of Hamas' military wing, while Hamas accused Israel of targeting the police force to create chaos and violate the October ceasefire.The attack occurred in the Sheikh Radwan area north of Gaza City.

Medics also reported the death of a Palestinian medic in the Nuseirat refugee camp and a high school student in Khan Younis, bringing Saturday's death toll to at least five.Gaza health officials stated that over 1,180 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed since the October ceasefire.The conflict has resulted in significant casualties on both sides, with Israel accusing Hamas of using the police force for militant activities.
