Escalation of Conflict Between Israel and Hezbollah Hits Beirut and Northern Israel
Lebanon has reported that Israeli strikes on its southern regions have killed 12 people, including two children, and injured 21 others. The attacks targeted multiple locations, including the cities of Tyre and Sidon, and prompted evacuation orders for residents living south of the Zahrani River. The Lebanese military confirmed a soldier was also killed in a separate strike in the Nabatieh region.
The escalation comes ahead of planned US-brokered talks between Lebanon and Israel, intended to revive a ceasefire agreement originally set for 17 April but repeatedly violated by both sides.
The strikes are linked to the broader Middle East conflict, triggered in early March when Hezbollah launched rocket attacks on Israel in response to US-Israeli operations against Iran.Residents in Tyre reported damage to buildings, cafes, and vehicles, with thick smoke rising after air raids. Some locals expressed determination to remain in their homes despite the danger, citing attachment to their land and heritage.Authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide emergency aid to those affected.
