Jaecoo South Africa has launched pre-orders for its all-electric J5 BEV ahead of its local debut in August 2026.The vehicle offers three powertrain options, including a 58.9kWh lithium iron phosphate battery providing a claimed WLTP range of 402km.Key features include a 155kW electric motor, 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, and a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen.

The J5 BEV also boasts driver assistance tech like adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, along with a 480l luggage compartment expandable to 1,284l.Priced from R549,900, the vehicle comes with launch incentives such as a R12,000 discount and public charging credit.The BEV joins existing petrol and hybrid J5 models, marking Jaecoo's expansion into the South African EV market.
