Madlanga Commission subpoenas Cat Matlala over alleged SAPS tender fraud
EFF leader Julius Malema has denied allegations that he orchestrated the removal of former intelligence inspector-general Setlhomamaru Dintwe in 2021, during a disciplinary hearing involving Maj-Gen Feroz Khan.
The Madlanga commission heard evidence suggesting Khan faced accusations of infiltrating the National Treasury, influencing tender contracts, and receiving payments for his business dealings.Khan is also alleged to have known about Carnilinx executive Mohamed Sayed's strategy to eliminate competitors in the illicit tobacco trade.Malema's affidavit contradicts investigator Tshepo Nyatlo's claims that he conspired with Khan and Sayed to remove Dintwe.
The commission uncovered communications between Khan and business associate Ismail Vally discussing potentially 'disappearing' a Hawks criminal case.Khan, who was shot before his testimony, has not publicly responded to the allegations.
Malema also addressed his ties to Carnilinx, clarifying that CEO Adriano Mazzotti's donations to the EFF were voluntary and under lease agreements. The case involves broader corruption claims, including alleged bribes from Bertobrite linked to the VBS scandal, which Malema denies. The Madlanga commission continues its investigation into these complex allegations.
