A new opinion poll by Politrack Africa has revealed that State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito is leading the race for the Kajiado governorship with 50.9% support, significantly ahead of his rivals. The survey, conducted among 6,459 participants, highlights Metito's strong position in the county ahead of the 2027 General Election. This marks Metito's second attempt at the governorship, following his defeat in the 2022 race by incumbent Joseph Ole Lenku. The poll places Martin Moshisho Martine third with 11.8%, followed by Peris Tobiko (7.9%) and Dickson Sitei (6.2%).A further 3.6% of voters remain undecided.
Metito, who previously served as an MP for Kajiado South from 2003 to 2022, is now seeking the governorship again after being appointed State House Comptroller in 2022.Analysts note his proximity to power under President William Ruto has bolstered his political profile.
The poll also mentions ongoing legal issues involving former governor Joseph Ole Lenku and journalist Jonathan Teikan, which adds context to the political landscape in Kajiado.
