The Kano State Hisbah Board has issued a warning to the public against paying money to anyone claiming to facilitate registration for the state’s mass wedding programme, calling such demands fraudulent.Deputy Commander General Dr.

Mujahideen Aminuddeen stated that the board has received reports of individuals extorting prospective beneficiaries despite the government’s decision to fully sponsor the programme.

He emphasized that neither the Hisbah Board nor the state government has authorized anyone to collect registration fees or payments from participants.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf approved full sponsorship of the mass wedding programme, covering wedding attire, furniture, transportation, and start-up capital for beneficiaries.The programme is completely free, and applicants are urged to disregard anyone demanding payment or promising slots in exchange for money.The Deputy Commander General urged victims of extortion to report such individuals to the Hisbah Board or security agencies for investigation.

The mass wedding initiative, part of the Yusuf administration’s social intervention efforts, aims to support less privileged couples and ease the financial burden of marriage.Daily Trust reports that the upcoming event will involve 1,500 couples, with N1.5 billion allocated for the programme.

Preparations, including medical screenings and logistical arrangements, are underway ahead of the governor’s formal announcement of the ceremony date.
