Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has announced plans to establish a state-owned commercial airline as part of efforts to create employment opportunities for indigenous pilots.

The governor revealed this during the 40th Kano State Executive Council meeting, where he received awards including recognition from the Kano State Pilot Association for supporting members' aviation training.According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, the proposed airline is expected to start operations within one year.

Yusuf emphasized that the airline will serve as a platform for engaging Kano indigenes who have completed their pilot training, assuring government support for the project's success.

He praised the performance of Kano-sponsored pilots trained in Jordan under a previous administration's program, calling their achievements encouraging.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the aviation sector and providing opportunities for trained pilots to contribute to state development.

The Kano State Pilot Association chairman commended Yusuf for facilitating license revalidation, describing it as a career boost and urging further assistance with final certifications for international flight operations.
