A dust storm accompanied by strong winds swept through Karachi on Saturday night, significantly reducing visibility and briefly disrupting normal activities in parts of the city.Concurrently, light to moderate rain was reported for a second consecutive day in several areas including Gulshan-e-Maymar and Gadap Town.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had previously predicted that rain-bearing clouds over Kirthar would move towards Karachi, forecasting light rain with thunder in the metropolis.The PMD also warned of potential heavy rainfall in isolated regions.

The dust storm occurred a day after significant rainfall was recorded in Shahrah-e-Faisal and Sohrab Goth, with Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 6, North Nazimabad, and Gulshan-e-Maymar experiencing notable precipitation.Rainfall measurements included 5.5mm in Surjani Town, 5mm in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, and 3.2mm in Nazimabad.The PMD had earlier forecast widespread rain, windstorms, and thundershowers across southern and central regions from July 26 to 27.

This weather event highlights the unpredictable climate patterns affecting Karachi, with both extreme dryness and heavy rainfall impacting different parts of the city.
