According to reports from ministers present, Siddaramaiah informed colleagues that he would be stepping down from the chief minister’s post, paving the way for DK Shivakumar to assume leadership.
HK Patil later confirmed that the resignation process was expected to take place later in the day, with Shivakumar being positioned as the next Chief Minister, subject to approval from the Congress high command.

Meanwhile, Home Minister G Parameshwara indicated that Siddaramaiah’s decision may be linked to a structured transition plan after completing three years in office.
There were also indications that Siddaramaiah could travel to Delhi to consult the Congress leadership on further appointments, including deputy chief ministerial roles.Outside Shivakumar’s residence, supporters celebrated the potential leadership change, signalling anticipation of his elevation to the top post.
