Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has raised concerns about the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) potentially undermining President William Ruto's administration, allegedly in favor of impeached former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

In a public post on X, Alai warned that his own party might be either knowingly or unknowingly aiding Gachagua's efforts to destabilise Ruto's government.

This marks a rare instance of internal dissent within ODM, as Alai, a prominent party figure, criticized the party's political conduct without directly accusing leadership of deliberate coordination with Gachagua.

The warning comes amid ongoing tensions between ODM and the Ruto government, with Gachagua positioning himself as a potential challenger in the 2027 elections.

ODM, led by Oburu Oginga, joined the broad-based government arrangement with Kenya Kwanza in 2024, but its relationship with the administration remains strained.

Alai's remarks highlight growing unease within ODM about its political direction and alliances, particularly as Gachagua seeks to build a coalition in the Mount Kenya region.The situation underscores the complex dynamics within Kenya's political landscape, where party loyalty and personal ambitions often intersect.
