Former Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has appealed to Kenyans from communities outside the Mt.Kenya region to welcome him after former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua publicly declared him an outcast from the Kikuyu community.The remarks come amid growing political tensions in the Mt.Kenya region following the chaotic Ol Kalou by-election, which reportedly left two people dead and several others injured.

Gachagua accused Kuria of contributing to unrest in the region, alleging that he has encouraged violence, supported groups involved in attacks on businesses, and worked against the interests of Mt.Kenya residents.

He further claimed that Kuria serves as an adviser to President William Ruto in actions that have allegedly harmed the region, and urged members of the Kikuyu community to isolate him from social, cultural and religious activities.

In response, Kuria posted a message saying that if he was no longer welcome at church services, weddings, funerals, traditional ceremonies or business meetings within the Kikuyu community, he hoped that Kenyans from other parts of the country would receive him warmly.His statement carried a personal and emotional tone, saying he had nowhere else to turn.The exchange highlights the widening political divisions within Mt.Kenya politics, especially after the disputed Ol Kalou by-election.

Leaders allied to Gachagua have also accused UDA politicians of planning the violence witnessed during the election, while Gachagua previously named Kuria and several MPs as individuals allegedly involved in coordinating with security agencies to intimidate voters.These claims remain part of an ongoing political dispute between the rival camps.
