Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has called for a unified legislative framework to standardize privileges, salaries, and entitlements for lawmakers across Pakistan.

His push comes after the KP Assembly passed a law expanding provincial assembly members' powers, including lifetime official passports and immunity from preventive detention.However, backlash led KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to review the law.

Kundi emphasized fiscal discipline, urging a harmonized national approach to prevent provinces from legislating excessive privileges while citizens face austerity.He advocated aligning with the prime minister's austerity measures, including expenditure cuts and eliminating unnecessary perks.The new law replaces the 1988 legislation, retaining most provisions but expanding privileges.

Kundi's comments highlight tensions between legislative autonomy and public fiscal responsibility, stressing that public resources should serve the populace rather than political elites.
