Peter Obi becomes NDC presidential candidate, vows major power sector reform
Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has expressed appreciation after being selected as the Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement shared via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Kwankwaso described the nomination as a great honour and showed gratitude to the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as well as the leadership of the party for trusting him with such a responsibility.
According to him, his participation at the special affirmation ceremony of Peter Obi as the NDC presidential candidate was a moment of pride and significance.
Kwankwaso also noted that he was humbled by his ratification as the party’s running mate, stressing that the decision reflects the NDC’s commitment to national unity, democratic progress, and purposeful leadership ahead of the 2027 elections.
He specifically thanked the National Leader of the party, Senator Seriake Dickson, and other party leaders for what he described as a bold and visionary move.The former governor further pledged his readiness to work with the party structure to ensure electoral success in the upcoming polls.
His acceptance of the role signals early political alignment within the NDC as the party positions itself as a major contender in the 2027 presidential race alongside Peter Obi.
