The Lagos State Governor's wife, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and Environment Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab have called on residents to actively participate in monthly sanitation exercises to preserve the environment.

During a monitoring visit to Eputu London in Ibeju-Lekki, Sanwo-Olu praised locals for starting clean-up efforts three days before the scheduled exercise, highlighting growing environmental awareness.

She emphasized the importance of daily cleanliness and involving youth in environmental management, noting that students from tertiary institutions will join next month.Wahab outlined government efforts to improve waste management infrastructure, including the development of the Olusosun waste facility.He urged residents to report waste collection issues to LAWMA instead of dumping refuse in drainage systems.

The exercise, held between 6:30am and 8:30am on the last Saturday of each month, aims to foster collective responsibility for environmental sustainability.

Both officials stressed the need for sustained campaigns, public education, and enforcement to combat littering and promote proper waste disposal practices.
