The Lagos State TaskForce conducted a major operation along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, impounding 309 commercial motorcycles to improve traffic flow, restore order, and strengthen security.
This enforcement exercise, carried out in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources and supported by the Lagos State Police Command, targeted illegal structures, street trading, and environmental infractions around the Alaba Rago International Market.
The operation aimed to curb criminal activities, reduce traffic congestion, and ensure compliance with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.Spokesperson Abdulraheem Gbadeyan highlighted that the impounded motorcycles would be processed for forfeiture through the courts.Chairman Adetayo Akerele emphasized the need to eliminate lawlessness and create a safer, cleaner Lagos.The enforcement covered multiple locations along the ECOWAS Road and Lagos-Badagry Expressway, including key bus stops and market areas.
Authorities stressed that the policy targets road safety, traffic management, and crime prevention by restricting commercial motorcycles on designated highways.The operation also involved dismantling illegal kiosks, removing abandoned items, and clearing public spaces to enhance environmental compliance.This effort reflects the state's commitment to enforcing regulations and ensuring public safety across the corridor.
