Lahore Tuition Centre Roof Collapse Claims 14 Lives Due to Weak Structure and Extra Load During Repairs

In a tragic incident in Lahore's Kahna area, the roof of a tuition centre collapsed, resulting in the sad death of 14 innocent children.Punjab police have termed this event as criminal negligence and started a proper investigation.According to sources, a preliminary report has already been submitted to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

The report points out that the T-iron and girder roof gave way because of excessive debris and soil placed on it during repair work, combined with the already weak structure of the roof.At the time of the collapse, around 20 children and their female teacher were present inside the centre. The children suffered severe skull injuries due to the falling roof. The female teacher, who was also under the roof, stated to police that she teaches 30 to 35 children and they could not afford proper lighting. She mentioned rainwater leakage from the roof which led to repairs while classes were still going on.All suspects named in the case, including the building owner and his brother, have been arrested. So far, no negligence found on part of government officials.Police are checking if more legal sections need to be added. This heartbreaking event has once again highlighted the importance of building safety standards especially in areas where children study.Authorities must take strict action to prevent such incidents in future. The news also mentions other rain-related tragedies in different parts of the country but this Lahore case has shaken many families.May Allah give strength to the bereaved families in this difficult time.Proper checks on private tuition centres and old buildings are necessary for the safety of our future generation.
