Mohamed emphasized the need for local business involvement to ensure lasting economic benefits, urging the government to ensure indigenous people gain most of the employment opportunities.Youth leaders also called for local entrepreneurs to be prioritized in supply chain contracts.

The refinery, set for completion in 30 months, is seen as a critical solution to youth unemployment, which often pushes young people to migrate to Mombasa.Dangote's choice of Lamu over Tanzania reflects strategic economic interests and the potential to reduce Kenya's reliance on imported fuel.The project also highlights the importance of CSR initiatives like school and road development to support community growth.
