More than four years after Rikhado 'Riky Rick' Makhado's passing, his mother Louisa Zondo, alongside Kumi Naidoo and the Riky Rick Foundation, has transformed grief into a lasting tribute by establishing a memorial forest at Rustlers Valley Regenerative Farm.

The initiative, which coincided with Nelson Mandela International Day and Riky's birthday, involved planting 150 trees to create a space for healing and remembrance.Zondo emphasized the importance of nature's connection, stating that trees symbolize continuity and the enduring impact of Riky's legacy.The memorial forest serves as a sanctuary for fans and the community, offering a place to reflect on lost loved ones and foster regeneration.Zondo addressed criticisms about continuing public projects in Riky's name, asserting that love and remembrance keep his memory alive.The event also honored Riky's grandmother Maemu and highlighted his role in guiding young people.The foundation plans ongoing tree-planting ceremonies, making the farm a hub for collective healing and environmental stewardship.
