LWUA and ADB Collaborate on P1.99-B Water District Development to Enhance Services

The Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) are jointly implementing a P1.99-billion Water District Development Sector Project (WDDSP) to strengthen water districts and improve water services across the Philippines. This initiative, funded by ADB, aims to enhance infrastructure and ensure reliable water supply for millions of Filipinos.

LWUA Administrator Jose Moises Salonga emphasized that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to making local water districts more sustainable and capable of meeting growing demands. The project includes institutional strengthening, financial sustainability programs, and operational support for water districts.Currently, LWUA's jurisdiction provides water to 24.8 million Filipinos through 6.06 million connections.

Efforts like streamlined tariff approvals, capacity-building programs, and technical assistance have helped reduce non-revenue water and improve governance. The collaboration underscores the government's focus on public service enhancement and long-term infrastructure development.
