MainPower Electricity Distribution Ltd has issued urgent safety guidelines for Enugu residents to avoid electrical hazards during the rainy season.The company's Head of Communications, Emeka Ezeh, warned against seeking shelter under trees or standing near power lines, poles, and other electrical infrastructure during storms.Heavy rainfall and strong winds can topple trees and poles, exposing live wires that pose fatal electrocution risks.

Residents are advised to stay indoors, avoid using electrical appliances with wet hands, and ensure home installations are properly insulated and maintained.Parents are urged to keep children away from electrical hazards, while sensitive appliances should be unplugged during thunderstorms.The company also emphasized the need to report any fallen poles, damaged transformers, or unsafe installations immediately to their emergency line.These measures aim to prevent accidents, property damage, and ensure safe electricity distribution during the rainy season.
