A 53-year-old man, Venu, was arrested by Puzhal Police for allegedly defrauding a trader, Sudhakar, of ₹15 lakh through a forged land deal.Sudhakar, who runs a traditional medicine shop in Surapet, had agreed to purchase a 4,800 sq.ft.plot in Puthagaram village from Venu in 2014 at a low price.After paying the amount, Venu promised to transfer the property but failed to register it.When Sudhakar attempted to build a shed on the site, he discovered the land was government-owned lake catchment area.The accused allegedly assaulted and threatened Sudhakar when confronted, leading to his hospitalization.Police registered a case based on the complaint and arrested Venu.This incident highlights issues of fraudulent real estate transactions and legal recourse for victims of such scams.
