A 24-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad district has been sentenced to death for killing his one-and-a-half-year-old nephew by repeatedly slamming him against the ground.The incident occurred on May 30, 2026, after the child's mother rejected his marriage proposal.The court convicted Jitendra Pathak, alias Viraj, for the brutal act, which involved multiple slams on the road and checking if the child was dead.The judge emphasized that the crime was unprovoked, cold-blooded, and created a vacuum in the lives of the child's parents.Viraj was arrested the same day and confessed to viewing the child as an obstacle to his marriage plans.The prosecution presented 13 witnesses, while the defense only one.The judge highlighted the need for severe punishment to deter such crimes and protect societal safety.This case underscores the gravity of domestic violence and the legal system's response to heinous crimes against minors.
