Cleophas Malala announces 2027 Kakamega gubernatorial bid after 2022 election defeat
Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau has accused individuals he claims are linked to a rival political camp of attempting to disrupt a political gathering connected to the Linda Mwananchi movement in Machakos County.
Speaking during the event, Makau alleged that groups of youths were mobilised with the intention of interfering with the meeting, and he warned against what he described as the misuse of young people for political intimidation and violence.
He urged political leaders to avoid involving youths in activities that could lead to unrest, stressing that such actions undermine peaceful democratic competition.
Makau, who has already declared his intention to contest the Machakos gubernatorial seat in the 2027 elections, called for calm among supporters and insisted that political competition should remain peaceful and respectful.
He emphasised that elections and political rivalry should not be treated as conflict or war, but rather as a democratic process that requires maturity and restraint.He further encouraged his supporters and those of his rivals to avoid confrontation, reminding them that they are all members of the same community.
The MP also criticised what he termed poor leadership practices in the county, accusing unnamed opponents of misusing public resources and engaging in unethical political conduct.
He used the platform to appeal to residents of Machakos to consider leadership that prioritises development, accountability, and improved service delivery.
Additionally, Makau reiterated his campaign promises, including job security for workers, improved governance structures, and better public services if elected governor.He stated that his administration would focus on restoring order and ensuring fairness in employment and county operations.He concluded by asking voters to support his gubernatorial bid in 2027, promising transformative leadership for Machakos County.
