Mick Jagger expresses hope for future Rolling Stones tour but rules out 2026 dates

Mick Jagger has said he is eager for The Rolling Stones to return to touring, though he made clear that fans should not expect any live dates in 2026.

Speaking on BBC Radio 2’s Tracks of My Years, the frontman said he would “love to go on tour” and “can’t wait” to get back on the road, but tempered expectations by adding that it is unlikely to happen this year and will hopefully occur “as soon as possible”.

The comments follow earlier confirmation that the band had cancelled plans for a UK and European stadium tour in 2026 due to Keith Richards being unable to commit.

However, Richards has hinted at a possible return to touring in 2027, and Jagger’s remarks have further fuelled speculation about future live performances.Meanwhile, The Rolling Stones are preparing to release their 25th studio album, ‘Foreign Tongues’, on 10 July via Polydor/Universal Music.

The album features a notable lineup of guest artists including Paul McCartney, Robert Smith, Steve Winwood, and contributions from the late drummer Charlie Watts.

Some tracks, such as ‘Rough And Twisted’ and ‘In The Stars’, have already been released, and the band will also cover Amy Winehouse’s ‘You Know I’m No Good’.

The album was recorded in under a month at Metropolis Studios in West London, with production by Andrew Watt, who previously worked with the band on ‘Hackney Diamonds’.

Jagger described the sessions as intense but creatively energising, highlighting the studio’s intimate atmosphere as key to capturing the band’s performance.

Additional insight into the project includes a spontaneous collaboration with Robert Smith of The Cure, as well as Paul McCartney’s enthusiasm for contributing, describing the experience as exciting and out of his usual role as a session musician.

Although no tour has been officially announced, the band’s ongoing activity and new release suggest they remain musically active and open to future live performances.
