The Darkness release ‘Eternia’ as the official theme song for the upcoming Masters Of The Universe film

British rock band The Darkness have unveiled ‘Eternia’, an 80s-inspired anthem created for the forthcoming Masters Of The Universe film, which is scheduled for release in cinemas on 5 June.

The movie stars Nicholas Galitzine as Adam/He-Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor and Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms, drawing inspiration from the classic 1980s animated franchise.

The band described the opportunity to contribute to the film in their characteristic humorous style, joking that they gathered in the courtyard of ‘Castle Darkness’ and declared, ‘We Have The Power’.The track also features a guitar solo from Queen guitarist Brian May.‘Eternia’ was written by Justin Hawkins and Dan Hawkins in collaboration with composer Daniel Pemberton, who created the film’s score.Justin and Dan Hawkins additionally handled the production and mixing of the song.Beyond the soundtrack release, the article highlights The Darkness’ continued touring activity.The band are preparing for a major UK arena tour later in 2026 in support of their album ‘Dreams On Toast’, released in 2025.They are also due to perform alongside Iron Maiden at Knebworth Park.

Dan Hawkins reflected on the group’s strong connection with audiences during the festive season and discussed how the band rebuilt its fanbase after reforming in 2011.

He explained that The Darkness gradually moved from attracting casual mainstream listeners to developing a dedicated following that appreciates newer material as much as the band's earlier hits.

According to Hawkins, the group's audience now actively embraces album tracks and recent releases, reflecting the band's evolution over the past two decades.
