Troops from the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, successfully rescued nine victims who escaped from their abductors during intelligence-led operations in Katsina State.

The victims, comprising three women, four men, and two children, were abducted by terrorists on July 9, 2026, along the Tsafe-Kuchere Road in Zamfara State.Preliminary investigations revealed that the captors fell asleep, allowing the victims to escape and be intercepted by the military.The rescued individuals are now in safe custody and undergoing procedures before reuniting with their families.

In separate operations, troops recovered 56 rustled livestock, including four cattle and 52 sheep, and arrested a suspected terrorist linked to the abductions.The suspect's belongings indicated ties to terrorist activities.

The Theatre Commander praised the troops' professionalism and commitment to combating criminal groups in the region through intelligence-driven efforts.

The incident underscores ongoing security challenges in the North West, with authorities vowing to continue collaborative operations against terrorism.
