Aaron Rai claims PGA Championship, first English winner since 1919
Australian golfer Min Woo Lee has positioned himself well to challenge for his first major title after a resilient second round at the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club, Pennsylvania.Despite chilly conditions and tricky course layouts, Lee finished the round at even-par 70, placing him tied for third, just one shot off the lead.
Lee briefly reached four under before bogeys at holes five, nine and ten, but a late surge including three birdies, highlighted by an approach shot to 30 centimetres on the 11th, boosted his standing.The 27-year-old aims to step out of the shadow of his sister Minjee Lee, who has already won three majors.Other Australians performing well include former major winners Jason Day, tied for 16th at one under, and Cameron Smith, tied 23rd at even par.Adam Scott and Travis Smyth missed the cut.Defending champion Scottie Scheffler remains a strong contender despite a challenging round, tied ninth at two under.
The tournament features a competitive leaderboard, with several players in contention and the course proving a stern test for all, emphasising precise driving, approach shots and putting.
