Senator David Umahi, the Minister of Works, has officially asked Nigeria Police Force to conduct an autopsy on Miss Mary Habila, a staff member who died at his residence in Uburu, Ebonyi State.The request was made through a letter signed by his lawyers, Roy O.Umahi and Roy D.Umahi, SAN, which emphasized the need for qualified forensic pathologists to determine the exact cause of her death.Habila, who worked with David Umahi Federal University of Medical Sciences, was on secondment to the Federal Ministry of Works in Abuja.The incident occurred in a building within Umahi's residence, which is used for staff accommodation.The lawyers noted that only Habila and another lady were present at the time of her death.Umahi has also instructed police to keep Habila's remains from being released to her family until the investigation concludes.This move aims to preserve the integrity of the probe and prevent speculation.Police have not yet commented on the request, but the case highlights concerns about accountability in public office.
