Ali Musa Gilani denies UAE deportation claims, calls reports fake
Signs of internal differences have surfaced within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after more than 25 lawmakers did not attend a key parliamentary party meeting held in Peshawar.
The session, chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, saw attendance of around 75 members out of a total of 92, raising concerns about unity within the party.
According to party sources, several notable figures, including former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Fazal Elahi, and Nek Muhammad, were among those absent.
While many lawmakers cited being abroad or having prior commitments, insiders suggested that some members were unhappy after being excluded from the provincial cabinet, indicating possible internal dissatisfaction.Despite these developments, CM Afridi rejected the impression of disunity, stating that the turnout itself demonstrated party strength. He maintained that PTI remained committed to Imran Khan’s ideology and could not be divided by political opponents. The meeting agenda included discussions on the upcoming provincial budget and a briefing on the health condition of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Afridi also expressed serious concern regarding Khan’s health, claiming a significant loss of vision in one eye and urging authorities to allow him proper medical care with access to doctors and family.
Additionally, he criticised the federal government, alleging that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was being deprived of its constitutional rights, including shortages in gas and wheat supplies and outstanding financial dues exceeding Rs4.5 trillion.
Meanwhile, KP Information Minister Shafi Jan dismissed reports of any forward bloc within PTI, warning that lawmakers deviating from the party line would face strict political consequences.Overall, while leadership insists on unity, the absences and reported grievances suggest underlying tensions within the party.
