A 20-year-old motorcyclist has been charged with multiple offences after resisting arrest during a confrontation with police in Gungahlin.The incident occurred on July 10 when officers observed a black motorcycle without a number plate speeding towards the town centre.A road policing officer later found the vehicle stopped at traffic lights and attempted to direct the rider to pull over.

The rider allegedly tried to restart his motorcycle, prompting a prolonged scuffle that involved a police officer dismounting and engaging in a physical altercation in the middle of an intersection.

The man, who was unlicensed, tested negative for alcohol and drugs and faces charges including failing to stop for police, resisting a public official, and using an unregistered vehicle.Police are urging witnesses or those with dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.The incident highlights ongoing issues with unlicensed drivers and police interactions in urban areas.
